This class will explore what happens when we expand the screen-printing process to include nontraditional printing materials such as charcoal, watercolors, clay, dirt, spices, or graphite. We will discuss how the printing process can be adjusted to accommodate these materials. Explore how this process can become an active part of your art practice in this collaborative class. There will be time to experiment with materials and to create your own screen-printed artwork. Previous screenprinting experience is ideal, but not required..

Learn how to screen-print or tune up your existing knowledge. Practice artwork creation guidelines, screen-exposure, printing process, alignment, reclaiming & clean-up.

We will explore and practice the basics of the poster screenprinting process at Max’s Garage Press. This class will cover best practices of screen exposure, ink selection, alignment tips and tricks, and screen reclaiming. All materials, screens, and artwork needed to participate will be provided. If you’d like to print your own artwork, this class includes the printing of one film.
OBJECTS AS EXPOSURE: ADVENTURES IN ANALOG SCREENPRINTING

This class will use found, hand-made, and natural materials to expose screens. Removing computers from the process, we will discover what happens when we allow objects to be translated through the screen exposure process. Basic alignment and printing practices will be covered. This class will include hands-on demonstrations and open studio time to create your own artwork..
